House
Chalice Hill House was built in 1830 and is the old manor house of Glastonbury. It is Georgian with Victorian extensions and stands in its own grounds. With large reception rooms and high ceilings, it is a very comfortable and luxurious house. It has been decorated in a classic but modern style and is light and airy with plenty of room.
Grounds
The house is surrounded by trees and is therefore very secluded and quiet even though close to the heart of Glastonbury. Sitting on the slopes of Chalice Hill, it also has views of the town and surrounding countryside. At the rear Chalice Hill sweeps up to its rounded summit with Glastonbury Tor beyond with the famous St Michael's Tower.
The gardens are peaceful and beautiful and contain the famous old Oak trees Axel and Omega. These two trees have stood together for over 300 years. It is wonderful to sit beneath their ancient canopy. In the summer exotic Indian tents and marquees are erected in the garden, beautifully lined with block printed fabrics from Rajastan.
